Who We Support: Husk Brooms
Tia Tumminello of Husk Brooms is a new, local Pittsburgh, PA artisan we are simply thrilled to support. Honoring traditional techniques, she handcrafts brushes and brooms that embrace the past while looking ahead to the future. Valuing the journey of each broom from start to finish, Tia’s sacred walks for gathering materials inspire each handmade creation in a new and inventive way. Each brush and broom is hand-tied and made functional for a lifetime of use.
Husk Brooms embraces sustainability through mindful material sourcing and prioritizes a minimal waste system. Recently, Husk Brooms began working with local farms to help grow the main crop used in broom making, broomcorn.

The Turkey Tail Hand Broom is crafted by hand using traditional techniques without the use of electricity or machinery. Made of broomcorn and woven together with cotton cord, these brushes are ideal for those seeking natural tools in the home. Utilitarian shape with a cut flat edge, these brushes sweep easily into any dust pan. Great to hang near a desk, hearth, or kitchen cabinet, the Turkey Tail Hand Broom is essential for household maintenance. Crafted with organic matter, these brushes can be composted at the end of its life cycle.
